October 2012 Meeting Minutes

    • Welcome Nigel and Richard!
  • Officer reports  
    • Marshal -
      • Aleator stepping back into this office
      • Practices Mondays and some late Sunday mornings
      • moving to indoor site soon for Monday evenings, probably back in the Stock Pavilion if it's available
    • Seneschal -
      • Aleator stepping down, Roana stepping up on an "interim" basis -- as soon as we have a change of officer form for them to fill out
      • Nigel willing to act as Roana's deputy seneschal. Will take a look at the meeting minutes and think about taking them next month, no pressure or anything. :-D

    • MoAS -
      • Spring regional A&S March 2. It's time to think about making something and showing it to people with documentation! (Research papers due Dec. 31)
      • Roana - willing to teach a bookbinding class!
        • will teach 4 different stitches that can be used to bind pages together
        • coming up at the November's A&S meeting this month
        • Sofya needs to reserve another meeting for the 5th Thursday in November
      • Dena/Lynette: finished her yearly project to test colorfastness of illumination pigments!
      • Monthly challenge: Learn something new!
        • Cindy: learning about the website.
        • Sofya - working on purses and pouches
        • Nigel - learned a dance
        • Roana - learned how to bind a 14th c. ledger book
        • Gerhard - learned how to coerce a friend
        • Alise - Al-Gebra, pictures of felted socks
      • Next Month's Challenge: "Make something with basil!" -- Alyse
    • SHOE THE SHIRE PROJECT!!!!
      • October A&S Night - plan to start measuring feet and working on lasts
      • Dena and Nigel also interested (up to 9-10 people)

      •  $2,337.21 in our bank account, plus $1100 in the RSO account
      • Parking bill from last Maidens has been paid!
      • Change of account signatory form sent 
      • Adding Genevieve as deputy, removing Sofya from bank account
      • Sofya needs to be reimbursed for the Bluehost bill that was charged to her credit card. The amount is on a printout given at the last business meeting, that didn't make it to this meeting to record the amount and write a check. 
        The shire has agreed that it's ok to reimburse Sofya. Huzzah!!

      • Cindy stepping into this office! Still need to fill out change of officer form
      • Has already talked to the kingdom webminister, working on reading the handbook. Apparently we have things that need to be changed on our website for it to be SCA-"legal", will look into what needs to be done.

      • Plan to meet sometime, Cindy and Dena and Sofya to talk about webbystuff.
      • Bluehost emails still going to Eadric, need to change email addresses somehow on the bluehost account

    • Feast theme: The Fountain of Youth - foods that were used to promote longevity and look youthful
    • Feast budget:
      • Site: $100 + $240
      • non-food: $24
      • food: $140
      • 42 tickets break-even point at $12/head
      • cap of 48 (8 tables of 6) + head table + servers
      • We are lowering the feast ticket price to $10 at the door (voted)
    • Other budget:
      • lower catering costs to $500
    • Site tokens:
      • Roana has 200 scales of veg-tan leather already cut out
      • Stamps: 4 X's + misc. stamps
    • Volunteers: send out email to google group and facebook page

    • Catering -  people interested in doing potluck dessert revel. I am holding them to this and will make them feel bad if they all flake out at the last minute. :-)
