  • Officer reports  
    • Marshal -
      • we don't have a local marshal right now, since Kenneth stepped down least month
      • Aleator has stepped down from regional and COULD step into this office, though can't to that and seneschal both, wants to know if anyone wants to be seneschal instead
      • since he is warranted as a marshal, that makes logical sense IF we have someone else willing to be an officer
      • see below re: possibly moving fighter practices to Mondays
    • Seneschal -
      • Aleator looking to step down as seneschal
      • Roana willing to fill in as *temporary* seneschal until June or we find someone else; will think about it until next month.
      • Roana will be VERY happy to be someone else's deputy if anyone else wants to give the office a try
      • We need a new deputy seneschal
      • We have rooms reserved for the next year for shire and A&S meetings
      • Thinking of moving fighter practices back to Mondays as it's the only night Arioch can attend
    • MoAS -
      • Shire folk have participated in the midlands-largesse project! Roana is leading the new one. Period things are afoot.
      • (Brief overview of the history of the largesse project)
      • New Facebook group: SCA Wishlist -- create a document about yourself on things you want to learn, things you want to have but don't know how to get, things you like to do. You can randomly go through their documents and ask people who know stuff to teach it, or vice versa, or help them find their mittens, etc.
      • Spring regional A&S: possibly March 2. Time to think about making something and showing it to people with documentation!
      • Challenge response (fix something that was broken): Aleator fixed the shire shield that somebody broke
      • New challenge: Learn something new!
    • SHOE THE SHIRE PROJECT!!!!
      • Sofya buying shoe sole leather, wants people to go in on it to help offset the costs
      • Cindy, Genevieve, Hrefna, Roana, Eadric, Riley, Tomaris raised their hands
      • Plan on spending $10/15 for leather, plus two pairs of socks, plus insole/insert

      • We should get this account thing sorted out. We need names signed for the bank.
      • Currently we have Amanda, Aleator, Sofya, and the kingdom
      • We want to add Genevieve as the new deputy, but can't until Sofya steps down as deputy seneschal
      • Then we also have to replace Aleator with whomever steps into his shoes
      • $2,732.78 in our bank account, plus $1200 in the RSO account
      • Parking bill from last Maidens still hasn't been paid, but we have to set up an appointment to do that, and they don't charge us interest

      • Lovely meeting last month! Fun was had, people drew pictures and worked on heraldry for Tomaris, possibly name too.

    • Maidens Feast
      • Feast site: McKinley Presbyterian is available! Do we want it?
      • Dining hall = $300
      • Kitchen = $100 + $30/hour for professional kitchen assistant
      • Genevieve says Sure!
      • Kitchen not available until after 2 because of lunch service
      • last year, kitchen cleaned up by 10:30; we kept the hall until midnight for the dance
      • budgeting purposes: the dining hall goes on event budget; kitchen and staff goes on the feast budget
      • Volunteers: the People of Baile na Scolairi have been notified and are willing to help out if needed
    • Maidens
      • Roana making flyers
      • Maidens is opposite the Chiv Retreat, but we're hoping it's moved
      • Inviting old Wurm Walders to the event: this has been on Aleator's to-do list
      • Round table discussion on what Wurm Wald was like back in the day: "An Old Farts' Tea", the "Ghosts of Wurm Wald Past"
      • "Remember When" contest during feast? Whoever wins gets a cookie
      • Giving away trenchers from old shire storage? We have maybe 50

    • October shire party / Wurm Wald 40th celebration Oct. 6 or 20?
    • Not working out; too many events this fall in the region; too little planning by now
    • Should we have our October shire meeting at a restaurant? -- ALEATOR WILL ORGANIZE IT
    • we'll need to cancel the Illini Union reservation
    • The restaurant MUST have non-gluten options, non-spicy
    • Perkins fits the bill

 

  • St. Carol on the Moor's event bid for regional A&S in March
    • they've gone above and beyond helping us for lots of our events
    • even though it's after Maidens, we should at least show up and donate at least an hour or two as a payback for all the work they've done for us -- Roana recommends
    • Please consider it, anyway!
  • A&S documentation & research paper Roana is planning to write
    • planning to spend at least one day a week on campus researching
    • anybody else interested in coming is welcome to band together, tutor / assist / etc
    • let's make it easier for all of us!
    • A&S study group Happy Funtime Club
