Officer reports

  • Chatelaine -
    • in contact with a couple people, one of whom was in the SCA before and knew Folo, may come to Maidens but hasn't sent her an email.
    • The other is in Kankakee; she will let him know there's a closer group just south of Joliet.
  • Exchequer:
    • balance: $2667.00
    • university account balance -- we need the president or treasurer to give us the account number.
    • Maybe combined is around $3500-ish.
    • Domeday: we need to find out whether the money in the university RSO account needs to be included on our domesday report. Will check with kingdom exchequer.  Email Regional and CC Kingdom
  • Archery: nothing
  • MOAS: has been too sick to know what's going on.
    • some folks have been trying to make scroll blanks. 
    • busily working on feast
    • music guild has been in remission

    • Now is the time to start working on an entry to the A&S faire
  • Pursuivant -
    • report has been submitted: Domesday!
    • Bran has also submitted one so he can be a Herald at Large
  • Marshal-
    • Combat this semester will be Monday evenings and Saturday afternoons at Aleator's IF people say they're coming on the combat wiki in enough advance notice.
    • Andre's younger brother is now at UIUC and is going to practices.
  • Seneschal - 
    • has done absolutely nothing; will turn in report soon
    • will text Tom to remind her to turn in her domesday
    • was working 45-50 hours a week for the past 2 months with a sinus infection, so she has failed us all miserably, but it was the holidays, so what
    • Plans to step down at the end of March; facing upcoming family graduations and moving in May, plus weddings, and something else that's nebulously teasing at the back of her mind. Must also help with Coronation at some point. Life is, in short, busy as all-@#$%.
    • In more polite terms, does not feel like she has the time and energy to devote to the Seneschal's position as she feels is called for. Seeking anyone interested in stepping up, please speak up.

 

  • Merger with st. Carol on the Moor:
    • for anyone interested, there's a Facebook page to open up dialogue about possibly combining both shires.
    • Caitriona is against it; thinks it would lead to more atrophy
    • Will we be a new group, or will one group swallow the other? where/when will we have meetings to keep things equitable for all involved?  Things to consider
    • Benefits: relieve officer fatigue, more variety of activities, demos, etc. The larger the group, the more people want to get involved
    • More pulling together resources rather than just relying on the kindness of their hearts
    • Drawbacks: political land mine, esp. with ancient Baronial history, could disrupt the rest of the Midlands. Change is scary! Losing territory, possibly not such a drawback.
    • Telepresence could solve the meeting issue. Distance communication save the day!
    • Or possibly meetings in Tuscola
    • Other ideas: we could do some heavy recruiting to help bring in new members in both areas
    • Anyway, making this move would be a long and drawn-out process. let's table until February.

    • things are going
    • a whole crap-ton of fighting will be going on: 4 tournaments for heavy, Ix is Marshal in charge
    • Fuyu- Marshal in Charge for rapier; Aleator is our marshal liason?
    • ANYONE WHO HAS INFORMATION THAT NEEDS TO BE ON OUR WEBSITE NEEDS TO MAKE THAT INFO KNOWN TO US!!! ASAP
    • still getting info from some of these people
    • schedule needs to be clarified with TRH; they may want court at 5:30, if memory serves correctly
    • doors to ABC will be closed and locked AT 6pm Saturday
    • feast: 4 courses, has been publicized, people being encouraged to buy tickets at Troll
    • dessert revel and dance at McKinley, (aka feast location)
    • we can get less expensive dessert revel items,
    • we are paying for both nights for royal hotel rooms.
    • Tokens: site tokens will be the booklets, and we may have enough tokens left from Crown to use for feast tokens. Any problem? Nope
    • royalty budget: ???? maybe $250; includes the hotel room and lunch and gas card and whatever else. they don't pay for feast for all 6 of them but that comes out of the feast budget.
    • royalty gift from the shire???? The shire cannot use shire funds to buy stuff for a gift.

    • Feast site paid for by Tom $130; we're writing a check to reimburse her. we still need to pay for the kitchen and the guy 
    • Budgetarily, the event is paying for the hall, and for half of the kitchen because we will need it to help prepare for the dessert revel. The guy is paid out of the feast money.
    • parking is set! Eadric and Gerhardt are in charge on the day of. They know what they are doing.
    • Eadric is day of event steward.
    • Roana will be free on the day of the event....heh heh heh
    • Spurlock having a Japanese martial arts demo on Sunday AND melee practice

    • WE NEED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO WITH LEFTOVER FOOD Ursul will work with Tom to see about donating leftovers to food pantries.
    • we will sell feast tickets until 2:00. Hoping to sell 60 seats
    • Can we get a dedicated herald to go around and sell feast tickets throughout the day?
    • Do we have a Herald's Point? Roana will check with Durio. 
    • We never did get a volunteer coordinator -- Bran? Pretty pretty please??? Thinking...will do it if we can't find somebody else by last month...YAY!!! THANK YOU BRAN!!!!! 
    • the invitation they wanted us to write for other royals was drafted and sent to TRH, but never heard whatever happened afterward. Don't know if they actually invited anyone, or if it went to the dead letter folder...oh well. Maidens is less scary. All we have to contend with are 1001 Arabian Maidens and their friends. 
    • Prizes for fighters are scrolls. Made by Vickie Choice Rayhill, aka an actual SCA name when not on Facebook.
