Yule Party (redirected from Yule Party 2009)

Page history last edited by Roana Aldinoch 10 years, 4 months ago

Come one, come all! This is Wurm Wald's fourth or fifth annual Yule Party -- take a break from studying, working, or whatever you need to take a break from, and celebrate your winter holiday of choice with good company!

When: Saturday December 7

Time: 1:00 - 10:00 P.M.

Where: 307 E. Fawn, Mahomet (check the Rideshare Board for car pooling)

Activities

Combat Practice: (1:00-5:00 P.M.)

  • Armored
  • Rapier

Archery in the snow?: (3:30-5:00 P.M.) If people show interest,  it shall be.  At the very least, a free shoot

Hot tubbing in the snow?: (2:00-5:00 P.M.) Will held in daylight so we know when to take the participants to the hospital.

Other Afternoon A&S Activities: What do folks want to do? Suggestions:

Pot luck feast: (start eating at 6:00 P.M.) Add what you're bringing to a list here so we'll know what to expect. If you don't want to bring anything, please offer $5/person to allow for a "last minute food run" of foods not brought to the Potluck.

  • Aleator and Dianne - Beef Pasties (Beef, bacon, and spices wrapped in dough)
  • Roana - Mashed sweet potatoes (beer wasn't bottled early enough)
  • Robyn - Lemon and garlic roasted chicken (now to be purchased from Walmart because of life things)
  • Lynette - Clementines and cheese
  • Sofya and Genevieve - TBA
  • Tomaris and Alainn - TBA (probably a side dish)
  • Kenith- Bread and hard cider
  • William -- How much $$$ am I supposed to bring? ($5 for potluck and $10 for shoes, if you want to start that project :-))
  • Markéta - Yule log (let there be cake!)

List of pot luck "staples" that don't require cooking that someone should probably bring. If not brought, money collected will go to buying these staples.

  • Bread
  • Cheese
  • Cider
  • Beer
  • Wine
  • Nuts

SCA Gift Exchange: (post feast) Bring a wrapped gift, maybe something that someone could use in the SCA. This could be something you have made, something you are "weeding" out of your closet (excess fabric, feast gear, etc.), or something that you buy (no more than $5-10). Those who bring a gift will draw numbers and we will open presents in numerical order. When it's your turn you can either unwrap a new present or steal someone else's. (Stealing makes the game last longer and can make it more interesting, too!)

Dancing? Music? What else? Dramatic reenactment of Sir Gawain & the Green Knight? ("BYO Axe")

Would it be possible to reserve the table in the living room for the Shoe the Shire project? We have a lot of people hoping to make a lot of progress with their shoes, and it's the best opportunity for a lot of folks to work on it before the holidays. I can plan to be there early in the afternoon -- but we will need a lot of table space.

There will be plenty of table space shoes and other A&S.
