Current Interests (things I pretend to have enough time for and in order by what I spend the most time doing)

  1. Rapier Combat.
  2. 10th Century Anglo-Saxon arts and sciences, especially the study of preserving food.
  3. Archery.
  4. 10th Century Anglo-Saxon combat techniques, especially spear combat.
  5. 16th Century Bohemian foods. (I get to include Northern Italian and Ottoman Empire foods due to their influences on Prague.)
  6. Armored spear combat.

     

SCA Autobiography

  • Started attending armored combat practices in 1977.
  • Joined my first SCA group in 1979 (Barony of Wurm Wald).
  • Got first set of nice garb spring 1980.
  • Authorized in armored combat at Maidens, 1980.
  • Became Wurm Wald herald ~1980.
  • Won 1st armored tournament fall 1980.
  • Event steward (1st time) Wurm-Star War 1982.
  • Invited to Crown Tournament for the first time fall 1982.
  • Awarded AoA at same tournament.
  • Became knight's marshal 1981 or 1982.
  • Feast-o-crated Maidens 1988. (I got a lot of help: 30 dishes served w/ 1.25 pounds of meat for every man, woman, and child at the event.)
  • At Wurm Wald May Day celebration 1988, Dianne and I were betrothed.
  • Became Wurm Wald Minister of Sciences fall 1988.
  • Left Wurm Wald for California, Ohio, & New Jersey, 1992-2003.
  • Returned to the Midlands (Lochmorrow) becoming their Seneschal, 2003.
  • Started rapier combat, 2004.
  • Became Lochmorrow's Minister of A&S, 2005.
  • Won first rapier tournament at Crystal Ball, 2006.
  • Awarded Purple Fret at Crystal Ball, 2007.
  • Became Wurm Wald knight's marshal spring 2008.
  • Returned to Wurm Wald in summer 2008.
  • Order of the Cavendish Knot at Fall Crown Tourney, 2009.

Silliness

  Here is one big (2025m long) sausage:
