Caer Gwyn Moot, Sunday March 3rd

21 attendees

Reports:

Seneschal Report – Nothing to Report

RSO President – (Registered Student Organization)  Reserved space in the Stock Pavilion for next semester.  Requested the Illini Union as a back up spot for Maidens in January 2020.

               Chatelaine – Not Present

               Chronicler – Nothing to Report

Social Media Officer- Created 2 events, but Dena still has the meet up and wiki roles.  We really need someone to take over the meet up

               Webminister – Position open!

Exchequer- All 3 reports filed (St Carol, WurmWald, Caer Gwyn)  St. Carol and Caer Gwyn monies have been combined.  There is currently  $4,037.37 in Marine Bank and $1,127.49 in the RSO Account

RSO Treasurer – Nothing to report.

Reeve – (in charge of storage locker) Not Present

               Pursuivant – Up to date

MOAS – (Master of Arts and Sciences) The stamped leather bookmark class went well with 8 students showing up at the Union.  Heraldry 101 was suggested.  Also suggested was brewing at Osywn’s house.  If you have other suggestions, there’s a thread on Facebook or you can contact Hrefna.

Group Marshall – Have a new Marshall in Training for Rapier, Daniel, however he needs to wait 6 months before Marshalling is completed so official practices can’t start until after Baroness Wars (approx.)

Archery Marshall- We need a deputy Archery Marshall, Genevieve wants to retire.  You don’t need to actually shoot in order to be an Archery Marshall.   Oswyn has started his Marsallete.  Additionally, darts might be added to the thrown weapons category.

The Novice tournament was held, with 2 contestants.  Ebegai won with 30 points!

Old Business

Caer Gwyn will host a group camp at Middle Kingdom 50 year over Memorial Day Weekend.  Oswynn volunteered to act as land agent.  Our preferred camping spot is H2, see Oswynn for more details.

Midsummer Moot – Sunday June 2nd.  We are hoping to get Peterson Park in Mattoon, if someone from Mattoon can be the point of contact to get the keys and open the building.

Many of our officers need deputies-  Please think if you could step into a leadership role to help our community

New Business:

Genvieve asked for money to buy extension cords for the roasters, estimated approximately $100 to get multiple cords between 10’ and 25’ – motion passed.

The storage space has become a bit expensive, costing the group about $1,300 a year.  As a temporary measure, Oswynn has offered the use of one bay of his garage, after checking with folks at the Regional level that this is ok.  He would need help clearing the garage bay and moving the items from storage. – Motion passed.

Michaelmass Moot- Will be held in September, in Champaign.  Ebegai is working to find a time/date where we can use the Stock Pavillion

2019  Maidens Report -  We haven’t heard back from anyone officially

Performing Arts Symposium #2 – to be run by Oswyn, Nicolo, and Lorelei on Saturday June 2nd, on the 2nd floor of the Illini Union.  Will focus on the non-bardic performances.

Middle Kingdome Academy of Defense- to be run by Ursus and Lena on Saturday September 21st at the Stock Pavilion/South Quad. 12 people have submitted to hold classes as of this time.

Maidens 2020 – The location of the McLean County Fairground in Bloomington, IL fell through.  Ursus and Lena found a date/location of January 25th, 2020 at the Orr Building at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, IL.  There isn’t space for classrooms, so included rental of a large heated tent to be placed immediately outside.  If people could handle the noise, there would be room to have classes inside.  Additionally, there are no appliances to cook feast.  However there are plenty of restaurants nearby.  We would have the entire day before to set up, and minimal cleaning afterwards.  Total Event Fees $2,434.21.  Motion passed.  There is a thread on Facebook if you would like to be involved in planning.

Potential Event- Crown Tourney.  We don’t know if our bid has been accepted yet. We mostly want to hold this event in order to spend down the RSO account.  There was a suggestion of submitting a bid for Coronation in September instead.   After discussion, the group decided we would likely be too busy and might apply for Coronation in Spring of 2020 instead.
